When drawing a bird, you should start with simple circles and ovals. First, draw circles to outline the general shape of the bird. Then go on with more detailed lines. After drawing a sketch, color the bird with two or three colors to make it look natural. These pictures are drawn using How to Draw application for iPad, so you can draw either on screen or on paper.

Steps

  1. Sketch an oval for the bird's head and an egg shape for the body.
  2. Sketch the wings shape and tail.
  3. Sketch the beak and shapes for the legs.
  4. Add details for the rest of the bird to complete the sketch
  5. Refine the sketch using a smaller tipped drawing tool.
  6. Draw the outline over the sketch.
  7. Remove the sketch marks and add color.

Tips

  • If you prefer to draw on paper, press the pencil gently when you're drawing the auxiliary lines. Press the pencil normally when you're drawing the basic lines and details of the image.
  • If you prefer to draw on an iPad, use a stylus. It makes drawing process much easier.

Things You'll Need

  • iPad or any tablet (for drawing on touch screen)
  • Paper, pencil and eraser (for drawing on paper)
  • Paint (an app on your desktop)
