This article is full of tips to help evolve Buneary. This guide may help you evolve several other Pokémon, including Munchlax, Togepi, Pichu, Igglybuff, Riolu, Chansey and Golbat, also Eevee into Umbreon or Espeon. All of these Pokémon evolve on a high Friendship level.

Steps

  1. Catch a Buneary in Eterna Forest, west of Eterna City.
  2. Once you have one, make it friendlier. Check the tips section below for ways of doing this.
  3. Check your Poketch. There is a Friendship Counter App available by talking to a brown-haired girl in the Eterna City Pokémon Center. The more love hearts that pop up when you touch your Pokémon's image, the more it likes you.
  4. You may also go for a stroll in Amity Square with your Buneary (located in Hearthome city), it will sometimes boost its happiness!
  5. Check with the many people who assess your Pokémon's friendliness. The best one to go to is in the Pokémon Fan Club in Hearthome city. Have your Buneary at the front of your party when you talk to her. You can also talk to Dr. Footstep. If your Buneary is deserving of a Footprint Ribbon, it's ready to level up.
  6. When your Buneary is at full Happiness, it will evolve the next time you level it up. While training it up, be careful not to let it faint! If you aren't confident about it being strong enough to battle, use a Rare Candy.
  7. Once you've leveled it up you'll have the powerful Normal Type, Lopunny.

Tips

  • Keep it with you. The more you carry it around with you in your party, the more it will become attached to you.
  • Other Pokémon evolves the same way as Buneary like Igglybuff, Cleffa, Togepi, Pichu, Riolu, Eevee, Budew, Chansey, Swadloon, Golbat and Woobat.
  • Take it to the spa. The Ribbon Syndicate Spa in the Resort Area can be used once every 24 hours to treat your Pokémon to a relaxing scrub that will make it happier.
  • Level it up. Your Pokémon will trust you more every time it defeats a Pokémon or gets stronger, so it makes a great way to make your Pokémon more friendly.
  • Get it Ribbons. The more ribbons your Pokémon has, the faster it will warm up to you. Buneary is particularly good at Cute contests, so boost it up with sweet poffins. Even eating poffins makes your Pokémon like you more.
  • If a Pokémon is holding the Soothe Bell, it will become happier. As you carry it around, the bell will help it to warm up to you. You can grab a Soothe Bell from the first time through Mt. Coronet or from the old man on Route 225.
  • Use friendliness berries. These lower stats, but up friendship level. When combined with stat boosting items, they make a great way to make your Pokémon happy.
  • Raising its stats with items such as Carbos and Zinc will not only strengthen your Pokémon, but will make it more friendly.

Warnings

  • Every time your Pokémon takes poison damage, it loses trust in you. Stop it getting poisoned at all costs!
  • Friendliness berries lower your Pokémon's stats. If you have the patience, you should refrain from using them.
  • Every time your Pokémon faints it will become more unhappy. Keep your Pokémon healthy at all times.
