Have you ever wondered how you can make beautiful hair accessories? They tend to look very beautiful. There are a ton of different accessories you can make. Here are just a few of them.

Steps

  1. Choose the type of accessory you want to make. Your options include headbands, hair clips, barrettes, decorative bobby pins and other accessories. If you have some plain-looking accessories at home you'd like to fix up, use those. If not, check out your nearest dollar store for cheap and plain accessories, some listed above.
  2. Use nail polish to add color or shine to the accessory. Consider using glitter polish or bright colors (whatever you prefer).
  3. Add ribbons, glitter, a bow, or silk flowers to your hair items and have fun experimenting with all the types of add-ons. Go to Hobby Lobby and get some experimenting done. You can add little jewels on to bobby pins but they don't work well on clips because the way you bend them to pop them open and put them in your hair.
  4. Decorate those accessories! It's simple and easy! Just think, you're using your creativity to make one-of-a-kind accessories that will reflect YOUR personal style, not anybody else's. Have fun with it and go wild!
  5. Show off your accessories in public!

Tips

  • If you liked this idea, try decorating your own earrings/bracelets/necklaces too. You can find cheap ones for a dollar (dollar stores, target dollar bins) and you can make those a one-of-a-kind creations too!
  • You can also get simple black bobby pins, small beads and clear nail polish to decorate them. You simply get gather a couple of small beads and add a layer of clear nail polish and then lay the beads on (with a tooth pick if you want) and let it sit. Then add another layer of clear(optional) nail polish over the beads so they will stay in place.

Warnings

  • Nail polish may be flammable, so never decorate or paint near an open flame.
  • Be careful not to spill the nail polish anywhere, since it might stain clothing and other things such as rugs, pets, hair, etc.
  • Make sure to keep a bottle of nail polish remover handy, in case you get some on your hands.
