Bakugan is a game based off of the anime series Bakugan Battle Brawlers. The card game consists of little capsules that look like marbles--when the capsule (bakugan) is played on a gate card it will spring open and transform into a character. The object of the game is to win 3 gate cards, so good luck!

Steps

  1. Assemble your set of Bakugan Battle Brawlers. You should also have a notepad and pen/pencil with you to help you keep track of the score, especially if you're playing a serious match of bakugan.
  2. Choose 3 bakugan capsules, 3 gate cards, and 3 ability cards (one each of red, green, and blue). The gate cards are made of metal, distinguishable from the ability cards due to their heaviness. You'll want to select your gate cards depending on the bakugans you choose. The more points inside the circle that corresponds with the color of your bakugan, the more points you'll be likely to receive during gameplay.
  3. The circles of colors and attributes of the gate cards are as follows:
    • Red = Pyrus/fire
    • Yellow = Haos/light and energy
    • Blue = Aquos/water
    • Light Blue = Ventus/wind
    • Brown = Subterra/terrain
    • Black = Darkus/darkness
  4. Now have each player put down 1 gate card facedown in the middle of the bakugan arena. Keep the rest of your cards facedown in front of you, still unused.
  5. Take turns rolling your bakugan capsules on the gate cards. If 2 bakugans open on the same card, the players who rolled them engage in a bakugan battle.
  6. When a bakugan battle occurs, the players involved remove their bakugans from the gate card. Then they flip it over and follow its instructions (if any). Following this, the players are allowed to play ability cards from their piles to aid their own score/hurt their opponents'.
  7. Once this part of the bakugan battle has been completed, players can add points by looking at the gate card again. Match the bakugan colors to the circles on the gate card and add that to the bakugan's score (or "g-power"). Whichever bakugan/player ends up with the higher g-power score for that round wins the bakugan battle and takes the gate card.
    • If the scores are tied, the player whose bakugan landed on the gate card FIRST gets to take the card for their hand.
  8. Repeat this process of gate card-laying and bakugan battles. The already used bakugans cannot be used again for the rest of the same game.
  9. The first person to win 3 gate cards from bakugan battles is the winner. Sometimes this will only take 3 bakugan battles; sometimes it will require all of the gate cards to be played.

Tips

  • If your bakugan lands on a gate card but does not open, it still counts as one bakugan towards a bakugan battle.
  • Read through the Bakugan Battle Brawlers rulebook if you want to better understand the more intricate details of the game.
  • To keep yourself at top game, never trade a strong bakugan for a weak bakugan, no matter how someone else tries to convince you. As you play more bakugan and become more experienced in the gameplay, you will learn which bakugan are assets and which are not.
  • Match your cards to your bakugan to raise g-power.
  • A quicker game, common in Hawaii, is to have 2 players put down 1 gate card each and stand/sit about 4 feet away from them. Then they roll their bakugan at their card. The player who's bakugan gets to their card and pops up first is the winner, who then keeps both gate cards and both bakugans.
  • Choose bakugans that are easy to close up!

Warnings

  • This game is super fun and exciting, you may be addicted to it after a few matches.
