3-cushion billiard is one of the most famous carom billiard games. 3-cushion is played on a carom billiard table (with no pockets) with only three balls including two cue balls and one red object ball. The player has to cause his cue ball to hit three cushions before it hits the second object ball. The first player who reaches a predetermined score wins the game.

Steps

  1. Select a player who will open the billiard game.
  2. Set the billiard table in that manner: the incoming player's cue ball will be placed on the head spot and the red object ball on the foot spot.
  3. Know that on the break shot, the breaker has to cause his cue ball to contact first the red ball. On every other shot, the player must cause the cue ball to hit the object ball and at least three cushions in any order before it hits the second ball. Make sure that when each time a player makes a legal shot, he scores one point and he is entitled to continue shooting at the table.
  4. Foul out a player when they fail to complete a legal count. They lose a point and turn.
  5. Name the winner who reaches the predetermined sum of points.

Tips

  • 3-cushion is one of the most difficult billiard games and it cannot be played without proper strategy.
  • The shooter that fails to make a carom does not lose a point he could add a zero to his total if he chooses.
