This is a wonderful dessert enjoyed by many in Taiwan. There's no reason you can't enjoy it, too, wherever in the world you might be!

Ingredients

  • 1 block of ice
  • Sweetened, condensed milk
  • Toppings of choice

Steps

  1. Prepare a block of ice to be shaved or gather ice cubes to be crushed. You may use a food processor to crush your ice.
  2. Divide the ice into one cup servings and place into bowls.
  3. Drizzle the crushed ice with sweetened, condensed milk. Remember, this is not the same as evaporated milk.
  4. Top each serving with your favorite toppings. Some suggested toppings would be:
    • Red beans
    • Lychee (Soapberry, often sold in Asian specialty supermarkets)
    • Pineapple
    • Strawberry Sauce
    • Mango
    • Green beans
  5. Perhaps you could experiment and use other, non-traditional toppings such as:
    • Peanut Butter
    • Nuts
    • Cookies
  6. Grab a spoon and enjoy!

Tips

  • It doesn't matter where you are. Try this treat on a really hot day!
  • You might use a Korean-made ice crusher to simplify the job! But the machine is rare to buy.

Warnings

  • Make sure that you are not wearing your favorite shirt. This dessert is delicious but can be messy.
