This wikiHow teaches you how to adjust the text size in Safari when you’re on a Mac.

Steps

Changing the Font Size

  1. Open Safari. It’s the blue, red, and white compass icon, typically located on the Dock. If you don't see it there, check the Launchpad or the Applications folder.
    • Use this method to change the size of the text in a webpage. This will not affect the size of images, including those with stylized text (such as logos).
  2. Go to any website. Try using a site that has a lot of text, such as a news site or literary journal.
  3. Press Option+ Command++ to increase the font size. The text on the screen will grow larger each time you press this key combination.
  4. Press Option+ Command+- to decrease the font size. The size of the text will decrease as you keep pressing this key combination.

Zooming In and Out

  1. Open Safari. It’s the blue, red, and white compass icon, typically located on the Dock. If you don't see it there, check the Launchpad or the Applications folder.
    • Use this method to learn how to change the size of everything on a webpage, including all images and text.
  2. Go to any website. Use a site with both images and text, such as your favorite news source.
  3. Press Command++ to zoom in. Everything in the browser window will appear larger. Continue pressing this combination to keep zooming in.
  4. Press Command+- to zoom out. This will decrease the size of everything on the screen. Continue pressing this combination until you’re zoomed out to your desired level.
