Get a perfect curly or straight look with these simple steps.

Steps

  1. Decide on which style to choose. This all depends on where you are going. If your hair is naturally wavy/curly and you're hair will be getting wet, stay with curly. Only straighten/curl your hair when you know you are going to be dry the entire time.
  2. Start by taking a shower and washing your hair. If you have thick or tangly hair use "moisturizing" products. If you're fine haired use "volumizing" products.Gently Comb your hair after washing. Be aware that brushing wet hair can be harmful to hair and scalp. Use a diffuser attachment to blow dry curly hair (it will reduce frizz) blow dry with head upside down for fine hair.
  3. If you want curly hair You can use a curling iron, straighter, or hot rollers. If your hair is straight tease roots first and use low heat, working in 1inch sections.Tightly wrap hair around iron so that the curls are tight and bouncy. Immediately use hairspray then wait 10 minutes until all the curls have set. For already curly hair use a serum or hair oil on ends to reduce frizz and define curls. To look gangster, wear big sunglasses on your head, they look better than headbands on curly hair.
  4. If you want straight hair Use a straightener. If your hair is already straight use low heat and only use iron on ends in brief passes to reduce damage and maintain frizz. If you have thick or curly hair use high heat and slow firm passes in 1inch sections for best results. Let your hair set for five minutes then brush if necessary. To keep it uber straight use some brushable hairspray on ends. Really thick headbands look good with straight hair.

Tips

  • For all hair types start by pinning half of your hair up and work from the bottom up as to not disturb freshly styled hair.
  • Don't brush just-curled hair, it will loose it's definition.
  • If you use hairspray, buy "brush-able"or "light hold" versions, you don't want your hair to be board-stiff.

Warnings

  • NEVER leave a curler/straightener in your hair for more than 30 seconds, it will damage your hair!
