If you're an ex-Mac user, some aspects of PC functionality can be disorienting and/or counter intuitive. Luckily, it's possible to install Mac OS Tiger or Leopard on your PC. Enjoy your computer's awesome new Mac appearance!

Steps

Dock

  1. Download and install [Stardock Objectdock]. Once its installed, set it to run on startup. (Right click on the dock and select "Dock Settings" then check run on startup). Now we need to get either the "OS X Leopard" skin or the "OS X Tiger" skin. After downloading a skin extract its files to c:\Program Files\Stardock\ObjectDock\Backgrounds\Non Tabbed
  2. Go back to your dock and close it after extracting. (Right click then quit) Now go to c:\Program files\Stardock\Objectdock
  3. Open up the dock again (Double click on the blue "O"). Go back to the settings (Right click and select "Dock Settings"). Go to the "Appearance" tab and go down to backgrounds and select the skin that's name has a resemblance to the skin you want. Now that you have the look of the Mac Dock , proceed to the next step.

The Menu Bar (Part 1)

  1. Right click on the bar at the bottom of the screen and select "unlock the toolbar" (If it isn't already unlocked). Drag the bar to the top of the screen. Leave it there cause part two is up later.
  2. Get the look and feel of the Mac (Mouse cursors, Mac style, backgrounds, log-in screens, bootscreens, sounds, etc). Go to the internet and download "[Flyakite OSX]". When installing it make sure to make a system restore point just in case. Now once its installed the computer must reboot. When your computer reboots it will have the mac style! Now when you enter your account you will see the desktop background is Tiger style. Keep it if you like but if you want Leopard, just go to internet and find a picture and set it as your desktop.
  3. ) The Menu Bar (Part 2)-
  4. Download another program. Go to the internet and download [Finderbar v 1.5]. After downloading it, open the file and install it. Once installed. Go to c:\program files\finderbar
  5. Select the finder bar icon. Once you've double clicked on it, the bar on the top we set up before will now look like a Mac Bar. Congratulations! The Bar is done.
  6. ) The Left Side-
  7. Okay, a Mac is not complete with out buttons on the left side right. Because a Mac look alike is not good with buttons on the right like on Windows. Okay, now we need to download "[Leftsider]". After downloading, the program doesn't need to be installed. Once you've downloaded it, open it up and double click on the icon. The buttons will immediately go to the left side.
  8. Little Changes-
  9. Okay, now clean off your desktop and put important programs into the dock. You want your desktop nice and clean. Okay, now go to "My Computer" and then right click on the... c:\ drive ...and create a shortcut to the desktop. Now rename the shortcut "Macintosh HD" and drag it to the top right hand corner of the screen. Good, now go back to "My Computer" and change your c:\ drive to Macintosh HD like you did to the shortcut. If you want to have your computer have a bigger Mac feeling you can add more shortcut like iDisk (Shared Documents), or any other drives.
  10. ) Icon Pictures and Programs-
  11. Go to the internet and download Panther Icons. Once you have those you will have a complete library of mac icons. To get the programs you're gonna have to do a lot of searching.
    • Finder - [X-Finder]
    • Dashboard - [Yahoo Widgets]
    • Mail - [Outlook Express]
    • Address Book - [Address Book Clone]
    • iChat - [Trillian] + [iChat Skin]
    • iTunes - [iTunes]
    • Safari - [Safari]
    • Photo Booth - [VideoFX]
    • System Preferences - Tiger System Preferences (Comes with Flyakite OSX)
    • Life Programs are located in the "Tips section"
    • Some of the icons for these programs may not be in Panther Icons and must be searched on the web

Spaces and Stacks

This is really only for Leopard but it can be done for people who want Tiger.

  1. Spaces ="Myspace's clone for Windows"
  2. -Stacks Docklet for Objectdock - Download "Stacks" and extract the contents to c:\program files\stardock\objectdock\docklets
  3. Reload the dock again and right click on it and select "add". The stacks docklet should be listed there click it and it will go into the dock. Now you're done.
