Talk to a Real Person on the Phone at Tennessee Unemployment

During this tough economy, more and more people are needing help with unemployment. In Tennessee, it is a mouse maze to get through their telephone system. This article is to tell you how to get through it.

Steps

  1. Call UI Claims Center at 615-253-0800 or 1-877-813-0950.
  2. Wait patiently for a prompt.
  3. Press 1 for English. Enter your social security number & PIN as requested by the prompts.
  4. Press seven then five & five again.
  5. Wait patiently. You may hear, "We cannot take your call at this time," at which point you should hang up & try again later b/c you will get disconnected if you stay on the line...

Tips

  • Sit and get comfortable, this could take awhile.
  • If using a cordless phone or cellular, make sure it is fully charged before you begin.
  • Have your social security and PIN numbers ready.
  • You can save time on redials by programming your phone with the following:
    1-877-813-0950,,1,SSS-SS-SSSS,1,PPPP,7,5,5</em>
    (note, the Ss are your SSN and the P is your PIN; the commas are pauses.)

Warnings

  • Do not try pressing 0 to get to an operator. The system will kick you.
  • Do not press another option if you want to speak to someone live. You will get an information prompt and if you try to go back, it will tell you that they are experiencing high call volumes and to call back later.
