So you've reached Ecruteak City and you encountered three legendary Pokémon in Burned Tower... but now they are all over the map? Here's an easy way to catch them.

Steps

  1. Entei and Raikou.
  2. Well, first things first, complete the entire game before trying to capture the legendary Pokémon. You see, both Entei and Raikou will just escape from a battle whenever you try to catch them. Through work, however, you can beat them. Here's a way that has successfully worked.
  3. Wake up the sleeping Snorlax outside of Diglett's Cave and catch it using Poke Balls that would suit the Snorlax for example, Heavy Balls (only do this after you've completed the Kanto region as well as Johto).
  4. Once you have Snorlax, fly back to Johto.
  5. Open up the PokeGear and click on the map icon, you should see the images of both legendary Pokémon on your map.
  6. Choose one to go after. In this tutorial we will go after Entei. Some attempt to go after two at a time but it doesn't work nearly as well as simply choosing one and sticking to it.
  7. Go to your GoldenRod City and buy 20 Ultra Balls and 20 Dusk Balls. It's recommended to do this at night *game wise, not real-world *, as this means you can use both Ultra Balls and Dusk Balls.
  8. Now head to where Entei is (walk or run, but do not fly!).
  9. Go into battle. After finding Entei this is automatic.
  10. Assuming that Snorlax is now your lead Pokémon, it should be Snorlax vs Entei (Snorlax lvl 50, Entei lvl 40).
  11. Use Snorlax's 'Block' attack to ensure that Entei cannot escape, before lowering its HP using Crunch. You should only do this one. There are also few other Pokémon you can use to catch Entei.
  12. Once it's HP is in the red zone or a low orange, start to throw Dusk Balls and Ultra Balls at it.
  13. It will attack your Pokémon, but Snorlax is a tank! It won't take much damage, and it heals itself anyway with it's item, 'Leftovers'.
  14. Just repeat the same process for Raikou.
  15. The legendary Pokémon that shows interest in your character. It isn't tricky to capture, but it takes a few encounters before you can catch it.
  16. Suicune isn't like Raikou or Entei. You can't find it by searching your PokeGear. Instead, you have to encounter it several times in order to finally capture it (you don't need Snorlax for this one).
  17. Here are the areas you need to encounter it:
  18. Burned Tower in Ecruteak City (fairly obvious)
  19. Cianwood City. Suicune is at the north of this island. As always, it will vanish but Ensuine (Pokémon fanatic who is also after Suicune) will battle you.
  20. Route 42, outside Mt. Mortar. You should be able to surf west a bit and find a tree you can cut. It will lead you to a small grove with three tree with berries in the middle. Suicune will be there.
  21. Vermillion City. Suicune will be there on the port leading off of the S.S. Aqua.
  22. The final area is Route 14 of Kanto. It's towards Route 13.
  23. After you encounter it these five times, you'll need to go to Cerulean City.
  24. Go through the story line of Team Rocket and the Power Plant.
  25. You then have to find the Gym Leader, Misty, who is located at the small mountain grove near Bill's house.
  26. After you defeat Misty at her Gym, Suicune will be in the grove where you met Misty.
  27. It's suggested that you capture Zapdos before you face Suicune and teach your Zapdos 'Charge Beam' as Suicune is a water Pokémon so electricity will affect it the most.
  28. But, if you started out with Chikorita then Grass-type moves will work just as well.
  29. Try capturing Suicune in the same way as the other two, with Dusk Balls and Ultra Balls. Suicune won't run away from the battle, so Snorlax is not needed. Suicune is level 40 just like Raikou and Entei.
  30. You should've been able to catch all 3.

Tips

  • Capture Snorlax to make it easier to get Entei and Raikou.
  • A good way to get them is to put them to sleep or paralyze them. Never burn or poison them, because they might faint before you can catch them.
  • Don't use the Master Ball! You don't need it, just a lot of patience.
  • When trying to follow Entei and Raikou, keep flying to Violet City. This the perfect city as a starting point as it leads to nearly every road.
  • Capture Zapdos or choose Chikorita as your starter to make it easier to capture Suicune.
  • Defeating the Legendary Trio is annoying, but not the end of the world. Suicune will respawn for a rematch in the Burned Tower, and Entei and Raikou will respawn and roam again. To trigger this, you must defeat the Elite Four and Champion again though, so try not to defeat them.
  • Try catching them at night so Dusk Balls can be used. Timer Balls are also a very good choice for these fights, as well as almost any other Legendary battle because they become more likely to capture the target the longer you've been fighting.

Warnings

  • Do not fly to capture Entei or Raikou as they will just run away from you.
  • Be careful when facing Entei and Raikou. Entei and Raikou both can use 'Roar'. That will make them be able to flee from battle.
  • Do not use your Master Ball.
  • You can only capture these legendary Pokémon once.
