Find the Blasted Lands Portal in Your Capital City
So you're level 58 and ready to go to Outland to level, and you know the Dark Portal is in the Blasted Lands...but how do you get there? Everyone keeps saying "Take the portals", but you don't know where they are. I'm here to tell you.
There is a portal to the Blasted Lands in every major city. There are four for the Horde and four for the Alliance.

Steps
Horde
Orgrimmar The Cleft of Shadows
- Veer right from the front entrance of the city, then turn right into the Drag when you reach the elevator.
- Keep going around this half-circle until you see a purple cave on your left. This is the Cleft of Shadow.
- Enter it and head down the ramp to the lower level, then veer left before you reach the ramp that goes back up to the top level.
Undercity: The Magic Quarter
- Ride the elevators from the upper courtyard down to the lower "main circle" of the city.
- Take the two ramps down past the central bank and ride through one of the doorways (which particular one doesn't matter).
- Circle around until you get to the Magic Quarter, which is the upper right segment of the circle.
- Make sure you're on the outer ring (beyond the slime river), and run up one of the two sets of steps on either side of the temple there. The portal is in the middle.
Thunder Bluff: Spirit Rise
- Make your way to the bottom tier of the city. If you walked there, this is where you'll get off the elevator. If you flew, you'll have to walk to the bottom of the tower. At the northeast of the tier, you'll find a building.
- Run into it then go up the stairs on the left, then onto the balcony of the building.
- Take the bridge to the Spirit Rise.
- Make a right, then an immediate left into the cave. You should see the portal on the other side of the cave.
Silvermoon City
- If you flew there, go through the front entrance of the city and veer to the left side of the Walk of Elders.
- Turn right at the dead end, then left into Murder Row. Continue along the path, around the fountain pool, and up the ramp lined with guards.
- When you enter the spire, there will be a doorway on each side. Take the right one to find the portal. If you used the Orb of Translocation in Undercity, you'll be teleported directly to the spire.
Alliance
- Stormwind: Mage Quarter, Wizard's Sanctum. Go through the front entrance to the Trade District, then take the tunnel to the left of the Trade District. Turn left then right into the next tunnel, and you'll come out in the Mage Quarter. Head to the south end of the Mage Quarter to the Wizard's Sanctum and you'll see the portal.
- Ironforge: Go left around the circle from the entrance of Ironforge. In the northwestern segment of the circle you'll find the Mystic Ward. Turn right down the stairs to the lower part, then turn left (you should be in the purple part of the map). Keep heading northwest until you see the portal.
- Darnassus: Temple of the Moon. From the entrance of the city, keep heading forward (west) until you reach the Temple Gardens (where the bank is). Go left around this circle, then turn left (south) and keep going until you find the Temple of the Moon. The portal is shortly inside the doorway.
- The Exodar: Go through the entrance and down the winding path to the bulk of the city. Circle around the Seat of the Naaru until you reach the stairs in front of the Vault of Lights. Go up the first set of stairs, then take the leftmost of the next three staircases. The portal is in the building directly in front of you.
Tips
- Every portal will be close to the mages' portal trainer in that city, so if you're still lost, ask a guard!
- You can't use these portals if you're below level 56.
