Team Fortress 2 includes a console command that, when activated, causes the player to explode. While this doesn't serve any real purpose, it can still be used for fun.

Steps

  1. Make sure the console is enabled. To check, press ' without brackets in game. If the console appears, proceed to step 3. Otherwise, continue to step 2.
  2. Enable the Console. In the Options menu, find the check box next to "Enable Developer Console". Make sure this has a check in it.
  3. Bind a key. In the console, type bind (any key) '"explode"'. Be sure not to bind a key that already does something else. If you are using the default keyboard setup, try using p, x, or k, as these keys are not default keys.
  4. Explode. In game, press the bound key. Your character will explode into a million bloody chunks.
  5. Be creative. Use this new command to stage some funny, horrifying, or just plain weird shows. For example, you could do a "drinking can kill you" demonstration. To do this, play as a demoman, then taunt (default G) while holding the Bottle. Then, while your character is taking a mouthful, press the explode key. Simply type in chat (Default y) "Hey, Drinking kills." You could stage something similar with the Soldier. Taunt with your shovel, then right when he hits himself, explode.

Tips

  • Use your ingenuity!
  • If a teammate (preferably one who is new to TF2) spy checks you by hitting you with their melee weapon, EXPLODE!!!
  • While you do die from exploding, no one is credited for the kill, and no points are deducted. The only downside is that you will have to wait the customary respawn time.

Warnings

  • Explosions in TF2 are quite gory, so make sure those watching you play are old enough to see a ton of bloody body parts fly everywhere, i.e. 11 years old at the minimum.

Things You'll Need

  • Computer capable of meeting the minimum system requirements of The Orange Box and/or Team Fortress 2, including a keyboard.
  • Team Fortress 2 or the Orange Box.
