So you have jailbroken your iPod Touch 4th Generation, but you don't like it. You go to restore it and iTunes starts complaining. A lot, and doesn't allow you to restore it. There is a very simple fix to this believe it or not. Just follow these simple steps.

Steps

  1. Make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes installed to your computer. If you do not, download it.
  2. Next, you will have to download a program called TinyUmbrella. This program will make you anonymous, so that you can bypass the iTunes Apple authorization process.
  3. Once downloaded, plug your iPod Touch into the computer with a USB adapter.
  4. When this is done, you will have to launch TinyUmbrella.
  5. Once TinyUmbrella is launched, you will see a sidebar on the left side. On this, should be your iPod Touch's name. Double click on it.
  6. Once you do this, simply press the advanced tab in the lower corner of the bottom box, and uncheck ""Set hosts to Cydia on exit"" if it is checked.
  7. After that, locate the button labelled ""Save SHSH"" and click it.
  8. Once clicked, it will save the SHSH Blob. Once that is complete *(Wait about 10 seconds), press the button directly below ""Save SHSH"", which is labelled ""Start TSS Server"".
  9. Once it activates, turn on iTunes.
  10. When iTunes is on, follow the steps you would regularly follow to restore your iPod.

Tips

  • If this doesn't work, do not change any steps, but if your in windows, go to C:/Windows/System32/Drivers/etc/hosts. When you reach hosts, put the file ""hosts"" onto your desktop, and edit it in notepad. Once you reach the ip address labelled ""gs.apple.com"", if there is a hashtag (#) in front of it, remove the hashtag, save the file, and put it back in C:/Windows/System32/Drivers/etc.

Warnings

  • This procedure can be rather complex, when in System32, or in TinyUmbrella, do not touch anything unless it is mentioned in this guide, unless you know what you are doing.
