This simple combination of ice, juice and fruit is a very basic smoothie. If you choose to use sugar, this drink should be a treat, not a thirsty quencher.

Ingredients

  • Strawberries
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • Sugar
  • 4 or more ice cubes
  • Blueberries (optional)
  • Slice of orange (optional)
  • Whipped cream (optional)

Steps

  1. Put a cup of orange juice into a blender.
  2. Add 4 or more ice cubes.
  3. Add fresh, ripe or frozen strawberries.
  4. Cover tightly, preferably with the lid of the blender and blend until fully blended. Check it after a few seconds. The consistency should be thick, like a smoothie.
  5. Add sugar according to taste, if necessary.
  6. Pour into tall glasses, garnish with a whole strawberry floating on top, or for color, add blueberries and a slice of orange attached to the lip of the glass. Tall glasses are optional.
  7. Add a straw, whipped cream, and serve. If you would like a healthier or simpler strawberry and orange smoothie, don't use whipped cream.

Tips

  • For a change, try other soft fruits like raspberries or add a banana in with the strawberries when blending.
  • Whipped cream is optional.
