Get through that mound of clean clothes on your bed quickly. Try one of these easy methods of folding a t-shirt. If you follow these easy steps, you will learn how to properly fold a T-shirt with a wrinkle-free result!

Steps

Method One: Basic Fold

  1. Choose a t-shirt. The fold will work with collared or uncollared.
  2. Hold t-shirt by the shoulders so that it is facing you. Pinch it between your thumb and forefinger.
  3. Fold back sleeves so with the three excess fingers.
  4. Place face down on a flat surface. You can also balance the t-shirt on your knee. Make sure that the sides of the t-shirt have folded in about an inch.
  5. Grab the collar and fold back so that it is touching the hem.
  6. Enjoy your folded t-shirt.

Method Two: More Complicated Fold

  1. Hold the t-shirt by the collar with one hand on each shoulder with the front of the t-shirt facing you.
  2. Use your thumbs to grasp each side of the collar.
  3. Use your thumbs for a means of measuring. You want an inch of fabric from each side of the collar to mark where you will fold.
  4. Once you have found your boundary mark, use your three excess fingers to fold the sides of the t-shirt, including the sleeves, back and out of the way. You should be left with a long rectangular shape.
  5. Take the bottom of the t-shirt and make a {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} fold towards the top.
  6. Fold the rest of the t-shirt, with 3 in folded portion, in half upward. The first fold should touch the collar.
  7. Turn it over and you're done.

Method Three: Side Fold

  1. Hold the t-shirt facing you and fold in half, longways. The sleeves should line up.
  2. Fold the sleeves back towards the collar of the t-shirt.
  3. Fold the hem of the t-shirt to the bottom of the sleeves.
  4. From there fold the top portion of the t-shirt, collar and folded sleeves, down onto the folded hem.
  5. Put the shirt away.

Tips

  • It can be easier in the beginning to lay the shirt on a flat surface when you are folding.
  • Folding t-shirts as soon as they are dry will make them less likely to have wrinkles.
