Are you tired of shelling out large amounts of money for exfoliants you find in drugstores? This DIY facial mask is quick, cheap, and makes a great addition to any spa day at home. By reusing coffee grounds, you'll feel resourceful and look great doing it.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp of used coffee grounds
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 1 tsp of honey
  • 1 tsp of brown sugar
  • 1 egg

Steps

  1. Crack the egg in a bowl, then add each remaining ingredient.
  2. Use a whisk or fork to combine the ingredients. Combine until the mixture is thick and creamy. This mixture will serve as your mask.
  3. Spread the mask evenly over your face. If necessary, use a headband to keep your hair out of the way. Take care not to get the mask into your eyes or mouth.
  4. Wait 10 minutes. The mask should harden during that time.
  5. Rinse off the mask. For best results, use a warm washcloth and water.

Tips

  • Always make sure that you drink plenty of water as well and remember you're not the only one suffering with nasty spots!
  • Use only warm water to rinse off the face mask.
  • Use lime juice a little on the face as citric acid helps.
  • Apply a small amount lotion afterward for extra-smooth skin.
  • Avoid using facial masks more than twice weekly.
  • Only exfoliate twice a week or as instructed by a doctor. When you exfoliate too much, you cause more breakouts and irritation. And no one wants that.
  • Never put lotion on your face. It clogs your pores and will give you even more pimples than before.

Warnings

  • Test the temperature of your washcloth before applying it to your face. A hot washcloth could accidentally scald you.

Things You'll Need

  • 1 bowl
  • 1 whisk or fork
  • 1 headband
  • 1 washcloth
  • Warm water
