All you need to make your own Google website is a Google account. Once you have that, you can create a new site, choose a theme, and manage the content, settings, and appearance of the site. You can adjust your site and update it frequently to keep your ideas fresh and relevant. Keep reading for detailed instructions after the jump.

Steps

  1. If you are not already logged into your Google account, log in. Select 'Sites' in the top left corner. If it's not there, click More and find it there.
  2. Click on 'Create New Site.' You should be brought to a page where you have to select a template.
  3. The default selection is 'Blank Template' and other popular templates are listed. If you are unhappy, click 'Browse Gallery for More' and find a template for you.
  4. Name your website and change the URL if you'd like.
  5. Click on 'Choose a theme' and click on the background you'd like your website to have. If you are unhappy with them, there are more options. If you are still unhappy, later on, you can upload an image to be your background. Type in the code to verify your site and then click 'Create Site.' You will be brought to your final website.
  6. 'Editor' will automatically open up. You can type in what you want to be on your home page and you can click the preview button.
  7. Keep reading to see how you can change your viewer settings.
  8. Go up to the top right corner of your site and click on 'More actions.'
  9. Click on 'Manage Site' near the bottom of the list.
  10. On the sidebar to the left, there are three main categories - Content, Settings, and Appearance. Click on 'Share this Site' under Settings. A window will pop up.
  11. The default setting is that anybody who wishes to access your site will be able to search it up and get on. You can change this by clicking 'Change' under Permissions. You can then change your share settings to allow either only people with the link can access your site or only people with granted permission.
