Ever wondered what it would be like to have a Japanese boyfriend, and not just one that lives in your area? Well, if you're going to Japan here's a guide to the Japanese guys!

Steps

  1. Take care of your appearance. Sadly to say, appearance does matter! In Japan people will dress formally most of the time so it is very important to keep the way you dress and the way you look clean, shining, and glamorous! This will show that you at least care about the way you look.
  2. Be prepared for the difficulty of the task. Most Japanese guys won't be interested in foreign girls, so the guys you will like will usually not. But it's always important to stay who you are and be true to yourself!
  3. Learn the culture. Manners like bowing and good morning, etc. are very important! If you have no manners while meeting his parents, what will they think? Some of the most important are bowing and saying thank you. Always take your shoes of inside the house! Polite posture and table manners are essential, nothing less.
    • The way your personality and level will attract the same kind of person of the same level! So if you are aiming high, then best be it that you raise your level to match!
  4. Do not expect too much! This isn't like an anime, it isn't all going to work so easily for you like a fairy tale! So don't expect much from anybody, because Japanese guys are usually in for a serious relationship (does not apply to all!) so they will not settle for any girl off the counter!!
  5. Don't be touchy. Hugging and holding hands is a big no-no in Japan. Recently a few things have changed to it won't be as a big deal, but some can tend to be shy, so take it slow and treat it as a serious relationship so you won't become heart-broken. And don't expect much on the first date or anything, because if your expectations are too high, you will only be disappointed.
  6. Know the language and study up! Don't let your fantasies get in the way of you schoolwork. Japanese guys always like a smart girl to show off and smart girls=a plus! So study up, but not to the point where you can't spend time and enjoy your stay in Japan!
  7. Meet his parents. Meeting his parents is a big step in Japan and so you should not ruin the moment by being rude, etc. Ask him about how you should act, etc.
  8. Understand Japanese humor. If someone cracks a joke, you'd better understand it because nobody likes a drag! There are lots of different kind of humor, but if you don't understand just laugh if everyone else is laughing and if not and you are alone... well good luck. (Study!)
  9. Respect Japanese culture. Respect the Japanese culture and maybe take some classes to better understand it---such as flower arrangement, tea ceremony, calligraphy, etc.
  10. Don't give up. Don't ever give up! unless you know it won't work out... but Japanese guys know a hard worker when they see one, and part of that is to never give up! (but if he already has a girlfriend leave it be- because people who crash couples will be rumored about and greatly looked down on!) and it's just upright mean!
