Tacos are messy. The meat falls down, it crumbles, yeah, it's pretty yucky. But these 5 simple steps will show you how to avoid taco messes!

Steps

  1. Grab a fork if you can because if anything drops on your plate, you won't have to pick it up with your fingers!
  2. Place the taco in a good condition in your arms. For example, if you are eating a supreme taco from taco bell with a crunchy shell and meat, hold your palm lightly against the back and around the front. If it's soft, wrap it around so the meat will not fall out and hold the back.
  3. If you are going to put hot sauce on your taco, don't put too much on or it WILL drip off. A good rule of thumb is about 3 drops of sauce (or a chunk of sauce if you are using a chunky sauce) per bite.
  4. Put a plate or paper on the table. That way if the meat falls down it won't mess up the table.
  5. Take a small bite. If any ingredient of the taco fell out in a small portion, it's okay, it happens to everybody.
  6. If you are eating a hard-shelled taco, try taking your bites from the top to the bottom, rather than the other way around. I don't mean eating the entire layer of lettuce and then the entire layer of meat; just a bite of lettuce, bite of meat, repeat. (three bites instead of two is also quite fine).
  7. Chew silently and thoroughly. Some people get uneaten crunchy taco down their throats, and it hurts. Soft tacos will usually not do this.
  8. Finish up. Clean any messes with a napkin.
