Short hair is a great style, and you don't have to keep up with your long hair. But, salon prices can be pretty high. In this article, you'll learn how to cut your own hair short and evenly without spending a penny.

Steps

  1. Determine how short you want your hair. Resting on your shoulders, a little below your ear? Select a style that suits your face shape.
  2. If you have curly hair, straighten it with a flat iron. This is to see how long your hair actually is.
  3. With a washable marker, lightly mark a tiny line at the length where you want to cut your hair.
  4. Tie your hair in a ponytail loosely at the length where the mark is with an elastic hair band. This step helps so you will cut it evenly and not make mistakes.
  5. With sharp scissors meant for hair, carefully cut your hair above the elastic hair band. Your hair should fall to the floor with the elastic band at the very top. Your short hair will fall in front to your face.
  6. Look in the mirror. It should be about the length you wanted it.
  7. Wash your new short hair with quality shampoo and conditioner. It doesn't have to be expensive, but make sure it works good for your hair and smells good.
  8. Style your hair for the day. Let it air dry, curl it, crimp it, or put it up.
  9. Enjoy and show everyone your new style. Expect some good compliments!

Warnings

  • Be extremely careful, try not to mess up badly.
  • Think well before cutting your hair as you may regret it after the entire process.
