Template:StubWindows 8 will soon replace Windows 7, though, not everyone is excited about it. Some believe most Windows 7 compatible software don't seem to work with Windows 8. Moreover, software developers have so far been lazy in re-engineering their software to work with Windows 8; this could be a problem if you are using third-party folder locking software to protect your private files, as you may be risking the security of your confidential data when you upgrade to windows 8 or transfer your secret files to a machine preloaded with Windows 8. You can use Folder Lock to accomplish this task.
Steps
- Conduct a search on Google for ‘Folder Lock’, it should show up on the very top result.
- Click on the ‘free download’ button and allow some time for the download to complete.
- Run the .exe file and accept the terms and conditions to use the program.
- Install Folder Lock.
- Set up your password. You’ll now be prompted to setup a master password, go ahead and setup a strong password for yourself.
- Click on the ‘Lock Files’ tab and simply drag the files, folders or programs you want to lock and hide.
