You've probably seen a raver before and thought "Hey, I can't dress like that!" Actually, you probably can, and if you are going to a rave, you might want to.

Steps

  1. Aim to stand out. Bright colors and sparkles are your friend.
  2. Try wearing baby tees, a trendy shirt (maybe from a video game or dj), or bright neon stuff from the eighties. (For shirts, that is.)
  3. Wear brightly colored, sparkly makeup and eyeliner. But don't overdo it; you don't want to look garish.
  4. Wear a backpack. Not like a school bag, but something that looks cute. Stuffed animal backpacks are always a good choice, especially if they are from a cartoon. Toys-R-Us and Hot Topic are a great places to look for one, or try out online stores that specialize in anime.
  5. For bottoms, tight skinny jeans on either gender always work. For girls, Capri pants and skirts are always good. For guys, large rave pants are always an option.
  6. Choose shoes you can dance all night in. This means no flip-flops or anything like that. Try to stay away from basketball type of shoes (use common sense here.)
  7. Accessorize to be seen. Day-glo bracelets, necklaces and accessories ensure you will be visible. Anything glow in the dark is great, especially if you attach it to your arms or legs. The movement of your limbs as you dance will create wonderful trails in the dark.
  8. Kandi is a good idea, too. (Kandi: Bracelets made out of chunky beads or pony beads of many colors given as friendly gestures at parties and raves.)
  9. Get creative. Most ravers throw together random clothes that look good. Girls wear tutus and short with bright colored bras/bathing suits and accessories. Guys wear bandannas/baggy pants/neon shirts/light up shirts. Anything neon or bright is good.

Tips

  • The best way to learn how to dress like a raver is to go to a rave. Surrounding yourself with other ravers will give you tons of ideas.
  • Drink lots of water!
  • As the rave culture has expanded, there are now actual rave outfits. You can buy them online. However, they are very expensive.
  • If you're going to wear glitter, don't overdo it (i.e. putting it all over you so you look like a giant fire in the sunlight).

Warnings

  • When you're going to a party, dress lightly. You're probably going to get really, really hot. Avoid jackets and layers and layers of clothing, unless you want to overheat.
  • If you don't know what a raver is, make sure you find out before you decide if you want to dress/be one. There can be a lot of peer pressuring from people.
