It is very normal to lose disks for computer games, and sometimes you have the disk but you're just too lazy to get them. This wikiHow will show you how to make it so all you have to do is double-click the desktop icon and the game will start up. No more of getting up to play computer games.

Steps

  1. Get a program that extracts the .exe file from .rar, .7z, and .zip files. 7zip may be the best program to use (plus it's freeware). Make sure that it is downloaded and installed. You can download it here: http://www.7-zip.org/download.html
  2. To find a No CD crack, go here: http://www.gamecopyworld.com, select one of their mirrors, and either search for your game or select a letter. Once you have selected your game, find the No CD patch for your version and click the link.
  3. A new window should open up and under the ad you will see download mirrors. Press "Click to Download" according to your area, and in the next window, press "Click To Download File."
  4. Save it to your desktop, right-click it, and extract it with 7zip. Find the extracted file which should look like a shortcut for the game, and copy it.
  5. Go to My Computer > Local Disc (C:) > Program Files > and either find the name of your game or the company that made the game. Either one of them should be there. Double-click the folder.
  6. Once you are in the folder, create a new folder titled "Backup."
  7. Find the game executable file and drag it into that folder, and paste the new executable file in the game's folder.
  8. Close the window and double-click on the desktop shortcut to see if it worked.

Quicker, less-hassle Method

  1. Download DAEMON Tools Pro/Magic Disc/Ultra ISO from the website.
(Note: In Windows 8, you don't need these applications as windows 8 have inbuilt ISO mounting feature).
  2. Go into the root folder for the game and locate that .iso file.
  3. Mount the .iso file with DAEMON Tools Pro/Magic Disc/Ultra ISO.
  4. Play your game. DAEMON Tools Pro/Magic Disc/Ultra ISO acts a virtual disk drive, which is why many people who own laptops without disk drives use it. You can use this method for program that requires a disk but you must change the .ISO every time - think of it as an actual disk drive, not a program that imitates a disk drive.

Tips

  • Back up your original game files (ex. game.exe) if the crack doesn't work or you need to update the game.

Warnings

  • Some files downloaded from GameBurnWorld or other sites may contain viruses. It is advised to scan downloaded files for viruses.
  • Beware when playing on protected servers (such as Punkbuster (EA) protected servers). Some of these servers will see the No-CD patch as a hack and may kick/ban you from the server. You will not need to worry about this if you are playing software that doesn't need an internet connection. These steps are highly not recommended for protected games, as you are better off buying a new copy or finding the installation files online.
  • If you are playing online, this may reduce the amount of servers that appear. This is why you keep the backup folder. If it happens, take out the shortcut from the backup folder, put it back into the game folder, and delete the downloaded one. This will require the disc, but the game will no longer be messed up.

Things You'll Need

  • Original disk or torrent to install the game
  • Access to the internet
  • A CD Key
  • A computer
