Wall ovens are situated off the floor within the cabinetry of a kitchen. Wall ovens prevent users from having to bend down to open the door and reach their food. Installing a wall oven requires more work than simply setting it in place. Electrical wiring, carpentry and heavy lifting are involved in the procedure. Use these steps as a wall oven installation guide.

Steps

  1. Prepare for installation.
    • Choose a convenient location for the oven to be installed. The oven door should have enough room to be opened completely and the location should have access to power. Measure the space to make sure you have the proper clearance. The space should be larger than the oven itself. The amount of extra space you will need depends on the brand and model number of your wall oven.
    • Install the cabinet platform. The wall oven will need support within the cabinet. Cut out a level board and install it flush with the wall and front of the cabinet.
    • Ensure you meet electrical requirements. You must follow local codes and ordinances when installing electrical products. Check the required voltage, frequency and amperage for the oven. This will tell you what kind of circuit you will need to prepare for your oven's power connections.
    • Turn off the power supply to the device.
  2. Remove the oven door(s).
    • Open the door to its fully open position.
    • Pull the hinge locks forward on either side of the door until they can't pull any more forward.
    • Close the door about 3/4 of the way, then grip the middle of each side, and pull upward to remove the door.
  3. Ground the appliance electrically.
    • Position the electrical conduit into the cabinet hole to the junction box in the wall.
    • Join the white wire from the oven conduit to the white wire in the junction box. Do the same for the black appliance wire and the black power supply wire in the box. Repeat once more with the red wires. Connect the green appliance wire to the grounding wire in the box.
  4. Mount the oven.
    • Grip the oven securely and lift the back onto the lip of the cabinet hole.
    • Lift the front end of the oven and slide the appliance into its resting place. Make sure the conduit behind the oven moves with the oven as you slide it backward.
    • Drill mounting holes into the front and sides of the cabinet according to manufacturer's instructions and install screws to hold the oven in place.
  5. Reinstall the oven door(s).
    • Lift the door into place at the same angle you removed it.
    • Open the door completely and replace the hinge locks.
  6. Prepare the oven for use.
    • Remove the plastic film on the oven door glass and all other interior packaging.
    • Turn the power back on and test the oven for workability.
