Make a Rose and Lavender Perfume
Roses and lavender flowers smell good in the garden, and will also smell good on you! Here is a simple way of making a romantic, fresh and gorgeous smelling rose lavender perfume from scratch!
Steps
- Look round your garden for roses and lavender flowers. Make sure they are fresh and smell great, before picking 1 good sized rose and about 3 lavender flower heads.
- Remove all the petals from the rose and all the buds from the lavender. Place the petals and buds in a small bowl ready for washing.
- Gently rinse the petals and lavender buds with water to remove all the dirt/soil from the garden. The great scents will remain.
- Take 2 cups full of water and pour into a pan. Heat the water on the stove and bring to boil.
- Carefully drop in the petals and buds to the boiling water before reducing the heat and leaving to simmer.
- After about 15 minutes, pour the water, petals and buds into a jug to cool. Let all the scents (and colours!) from the petals and buds seep into the water. Leave to sit for a few hours.
- Strain the scented water, petals and buds. So place a sieve over a bowl and pour all of the water and flowers from the jug. The petals and buds should be left behind in the sieve, and the water will have slipped through into the bowl.
- Pour the scented 'water' into a pretty container. It's now your homemade flower perfume!
- Dab spots of your new perfume over your skin (pulse points are best) for a delicate lovely signature scent.

- The sweet scent of rose combines with the fresh but relaxing scent of lavender for the perfect, floral, fresh scent of this rose lavender perfume.
- This perfume is great as a small homemade gift, as well as being perfect as a little treat for yourself.
- Make this perfume last a little longer by keeping it in the fridge. This will also make it feel super refreshing when it touches your skin!
- No roses or lavender flowers in your garden? Just buy either seeds/bulbs that will grow in to a rose or a lavender bush, roses and lavender flowers from a flower shop, or if all else fails, use oils, but doing this isn't quite as natural as fresh flowers.
- If you do decide to give this perfume away as a gift, make sure the container you put it in really is cute. You can buy small but pretty perfume containers from lots of home, craft or gift shops.
- When choosing the rose you will use, colour doesn't really matter, except the fact that red and pink roses have a stronger scent, while yellows and whites have a more delicate scent.
- Be the first to start using flowery spring perfumes with this scent. You'll be the smell of spring!

- As this perfume is so natural, and doesn't have any chemicals in it, it won't last for long, 2 weeks tops. But don't worry if you have to throw away some, just clean out the container and head back to the garden or flower store to make more!
