Identify and Remove Computer Virus iCodec

iCodec is highly damaging spyware. iCodec is a variant of Spyaxe, Zlob and VirusBurst and causes much disruption to computer systems.

Steps

Virus Identification

  1. Look for any of the following symptoms as a sign of the iCodec virus:
    • A yellow flashing triangle with a pop up window.
    • Pop up windows telling you to buy anti-virus software.
    • Pop up windows saying your computer is being attacked, Gambling sites, Adult sites etc etc.
    • Computer is under attack, slows right down, and can stop.
    • pmsngr.exe and pmmon.exe are running. (refer to the HijackThis log).

Virus Eradication Method 1

  1. Go into the computer's Safe Mode.
  2. Delete the whole iCodecPack folder and its contents in C:\Program Files (this removes the virus).
  3. Uninstall the iCodec program officially. (This is only a cleanup).

Virus Eradication Method 2

  1. Go to start menu.
  2. Select run program type(%temp%).
  3. Open new windows.
  4. Select all items and delete them.
