Windows 8 will soon replace Windows 7, though, not everyone is excited about it. Some believe most Windows 7 compatible software don't seem to work with Windows 8. Moreover, software developers have so far been lazy in re-engineering their software to work with Windows 8; this could be a problem if you are using third-party folder locking software to protect your private files, as you may be risking the security of your confidential data when you upgrade to windows 8 or transfer your secret files to a machine preloaded with Windows 8. You can use Folder Lock to accomplish this task.

Steps

  1. Conduct a search on Google for ‘Folder Lock’, it should show up on the very top result.
  2. Click on the ‘free download’ button and allow some time for the download to complete.
  3. Run the .exe file and accept the terms and conditions to use the program.
  4. Install Folder Lock.
  5. Set up your password. You’ll now be prompted to setup a master password, go ahead and setup a strong password for yourself.
  6. Click on the ‘Lock Files’ tab and simply drag the files, folders or programs you want to lock and hide.
