A Mojang account is required to play Minecraft. A Minecraft account and a Mojang account are the same thing. You can create an account for free from the Minecraft website, and you must create an account before your purchase the game. If you have an old Minecraft Premium account, you can migrate it into a Mojang account to gain extra benefits.

Tips

  • Do not make a password too short.
  • Try to include a mixture of numbers, letters and symbols in your password to prevent people from hacking into your account.
  • Make your password something that only you know and don't tell it to anyone.

Warnings

  • Mojang will only require you to log into the Minecraft client and their website, do not give your username and password to anything else, even if it is an email from Mojang.
