With advanced technology, Internet, and computers, we are now able to complete large and difficult tasks such as creating a family tree, with the push of a button. This article will explain how to quickly and easily make your own family tree online.

Steps

  1. Gather as much family history that you know, including: names of family members, genders, birth dates, birthplaces, death dates and death places of ancestors.
  2. Make a rough draft of your family tree. Start with yourself and work your way outwards towards your mother, father, and their parents/children/siblings.
  3. Visit an ancestry/family tree making website and simply follow the directions from there using the information you have gathered about your family. Some popular websites include Tribal Pages, My Heritage and Family Echo.

Tips

  • If you have blanks or missing places on your family tree because you do not know some of the people or their information, that's OK. There are several resources to help you find people. On most family tree sites, they also provide ancestor-finding technology.
  • There is also family tree software that you can find online to download and fill in. These are similar to the sites, though. Choose which ever you prefer. Both ways are easy-to-use and convenient.

Warnings

  • You may not have the information necessary to make the family tree. Be sure to either seek information from family members or, if they're also clueless, look online.

Things You'll Need

  • If you want to create a family tree, these are the two websites that are recommended Ancestry.com, and find my past.com
