A tried and true method!

Steps

  1. Mix all the ingredients (list below) except the yeast.
  2. Allow to stand for 24 hours, then add yeast.
  3. Allow to ferment in an open container for 5 days covered with a plastic trash bag to keep the dust out.
  4. Syphon into a one gallon jug and place under airlock for 1 month. You should notice the wine beginning to clear by now.
  5. Syphon off the lees into a clean jug and allow to set until clear.

Tips

  • All of the equipment and chemicals can be purchase at a wine making supply shop in your area or online.
  • Patience is the number one rule of wine making. Take your time and you will be rewarded with a wonderful beverage.
  • After fermenting for 5 days add more sugar to pump up the alcohol content for a more potent wine.

Warnings

  • Always allow head room in your fermenter as the wine has a tendency to foam in the early stages. A two gallon bucket for a one gallon batch.

  • 1/2 tsp pectic enzyme
  • 1 tsp. yeast nutrient
  • 1 campden tablet crushed
  • 1 pkg wine yeast
