The Hulu website achieved a broad fan-base by offering users the ability to stream popular television shows on popular cable and non-cable networks. In June of 2010, Hulu Plus was launched, allowing users to subscribe and receive more television shows, past seasons and movies by paying a monthly fee. Hulu Plus is available for streaming on popular gaming consoles like PlayStation 3 (PS3), Xbox 360 and Roku, as well as on the computer. By downloading the Hulu Plus application and activating your account, you can stream television shows and movies from the Hulu site. This article will tell you how to activate Hulu Plus streaming on a PS3.

Steps

  1. Sign up for Hulu Plus on your Internet-connected computer, if you have not already. Leave the browser window up, as you will need it later in the process.
    • Go to Hulu's main site and click on the "Hulu Plus" tab on the top of the page. Click the "Try it Now" button to go through the process of signing up for your account. You will need to enter your email address, credit card information and a few other personal details. The cost of Hulu is approximately $7.99 per month (5 pounds or 5.6 euros).
  2. Connect your PlayStation 3 to the Internet, if it is not already connected.
  3. Sign into your PlayStation Network account. The account is included when you buy a PlayStation 3.
    • To sign up, you will need to read and agree with the terms and conditions, enter your name, date of birth and address. Then, create a username and password and a User ID that is viewed by the public. You can also choose to enter your credit card details if you intend to buy games or applications.
  4. Go to the XMB on your PlayStation 3. XMB means Xross Media Bar. (Xross is pronounced "cross.") This is the user interface for the PS3 that allows you to navigate through the games and PS3 features by scrolling horizontally and then vertically through icons.
  5. Go to the section called "PlayStation Store" on your XMB interface. Go to "Search" and type in "Hulu Plus."
    • Although you can find the PlayStation Store on your PlayStation menu in a number of places, 1 commonly used way is to go to the "Games" icon on the XMB and scroll down to the PlayStation Store. The Games icon is a picture of a gaming controller.
  6. Click on the Hulu Plus application.
  7. Select "Download" on the application screen. Continue through the download prompts to successfully complete the download.
  8. Find your new Hulu Plus application under the "Video" section of your XMB. The video icon is a picture of a film negative.
  9. Click on the Hulu Plus app. You should see an "Activate this Device" page. Write down the device activation code. It will be an alphanumeric code of about 6 letters. For example: 3T46P9
  10. Return to your computer's browser window. Go to "hulu.com/activate." Sign in, if you are prompted to do so. If you just signed into your account when you began your Hulu Plus subscription, you may not be prompted.
  11. Type the alphanumeric code and click "Activate."
  12. Wait about a minute and then sign into your PS3 Hulu Plus app. Begin streaming TV shows and movies. #yolo

  • Hulu Plus grants users a free trial for 1 week. It grants students a trial for 1 month.
  • If you are adept at using your PS3 keyboard, you can activate your app on the "Activate this Device" page. Click the "Log into Hulu Plus" button and type in your email address and password using your PS3 remote control or gaming controller.
