Logging out of the iTunes Store can prevent other users from making iTunes purchases while logged in under your personal Apple ID. You can either sign out of iTunes using a computer, or sign out of iTunes using your iOS device.

Steps

Logging Out of iTunes from the Library Screen

  1. Navigate to your open session of iTunes.
  2. Click on “Store” in the menu bar of your iTunes session.
  3. Select “Sign Out. You will no longer be logged into iTunes under your Apple ID.[1]

Logging Out of iTunes from the iTunes Store

  1. Navigate to your current session of iTunes on your computer.
  2. Click on “iTunes Store” located at the upper right corner of your iTunes session.
  3. Click on “Sign Out” at the top left corner of iTunes. Your Apple ID will now be logged out of iTunes.

Logging Out of iTunes on an iOS Device

  1. Tap on the “Settings” icon on your iOS device.
  2. Tap on “iTunes and App Stores.
  3. Tap on the Apple ID that is currently signed in to iTunes.
  4. Tap on “Sign Out. You will then be signed out of iTunes.[2]

Tips

  • If you are signed into iTunes on a public or shared computer, such as those at the library or at your place of work, log out at the end of your session to prevent other users from making purchases under your Apple ID.
