The Grim Reaper is the representation of death. Many cultures have some version of the Grim Reaper, also known as the Angel of Death, with this figure humanizing the experience of death and being designed to reduce the fear of death. Here are the steps on how to draw a Grim Reaper.

Steps

  1. Draw the basic shapes for guidelines.
  2. Draw the skull for his face.
  3. Draw the hood.
  4. Draw some curve lines for the clothes.
  5. Draw the right sleeve and his right hand.
  6. Draw the left sleeve and his left hand.
  7. Draw his weapon and blade.
  8. Add more details to your drawing.
  9. Put shades of black.
  10. All lines and shading are done.
  11. Clean and remove now the guidelines.

Alternate Method

  1. Draw a large oval on the horizontal and a smaller one on the lower line of the first one. This will be the head of the Reaper; the biggest oval is the head and the smaller one will form the jaw.
  2. Add another oval (this one vertical) for the hood of the cape. It has to be bigger and surround the first two. Draw a triangle on the top of the head to make the peak of the hood.
  3. For the body, draw a bigger triangle, positioned upside down.
  4. For the scythe, draw an oblique line at the middle of the triangle for the body. The blade is sketched with a bent line at the end of the handle.
  5. Draw two circles on the scythe handle for the hands.
  6. For the face of the Grim Reaper, draw guidelines that will delimit the position of the eyes. You can make the eyes whatever size you want.
  7. The figure drawing will be made by a darkened line slowly moving across the figures.
    • The coloring is up to you. Put in a little color and a soft shadow.
