You're walking home after a long day of diamond mining, and boom! A Creeper appears out of nowhere and blows you up. Or a Spider jumps on top of you from the top of your house and you can't get it off. This happens a lot. This article should help you to kill mobs better.

Steps

  1. The subsections are ordered in the difficulty of monsters, starting with the easiest.

Zombies

  1. Make sure there are no other enemies around.
  2. Shoot the zombie with a bow.
    • Zombies are easy, so you can attack with a sword. In version 1.9, they will deal more damage, so be careful in the future.

Spiders

  1. Spiders can climb objects and jump at you.
  2. Turn the volume pretty high, but not too loud. You will be able to hear the monster that is outside. If you hear the spider sound, get a sword.
  3. Have a good sword and some food.
  4. If you hear the spider on top of your house, sprint far from the door, then attack it.

Skeletons

  1. If there are two skeletons shooting at you, fall back.
  2. Use a bow, as they will use a bow.
  3. Charge a bow fully, and peek out of cover just a little bit to shoot, as skeletons have good accuracy.
  4. If you only have a sword, get to cover quickly, and carefully get closer to the skeleton.

Ghasts

  1. When a ghast shoots a bomb, hit it with something. The bomb will be deflected back. (Not damaging any ghasts)
  2. Move around a lot, to dodge bombs.
  3. The bombs deal damage in a 3x3 square.
  4. Charge a bow fully, to ensure accuracy and power. Two hits from a fully charged bow will kill a ghast.

Creepers

  1. Always carry a bow and arrow with you.
  2. If you see a Creeper, charge up your bow, and let it rip. If a Creeper walks out of nowhere and starts hissing, immediately hit it with anything. He will be struck back, giving you a chance to run away.
    • Try shooting snowballs at it. It will fly back and explode.

Endermen

  1. Do not try to attack Endermen.
  2. If you want to, bring good armor and a sword. Endermen will teleport next to you if you look at them for a few seconds.
  3. Charge a bow, then shoot at it. This won't hurt it, they always teleport before the arrow hits, but it will provoke the Enderman to attack you in melee.
  4. After it teleports, attack it with your sword. Looking down at its feet will prevent it from teleporting away. Eye contact will make it teleport.
  5. Most of the time, it will dodge your sword by teleporting again. Keep spinning around, as it teleports in random places around you. Listen for the sound of teleportation to know when you're in danger.
  6. Retreat to a location where there is only a two-block space between floor and ceiling if you are about to die. Endermen are three blocks tall and cannot fit in such spaces.

Ender Dragon

  1. Explode all the towers around you.
  2. Shoot the ender dragon with a bow.
  3. If it comes at you, get out a sword. Hit as many times as possible.
  4. Deflect its fireballs. Hopefully by now you've done a lot of damage and can end it.

Tips

  • If you look at an enderman with a pumpkin on your head, it won't attack you.
  • Blazes are weakened and die faster when you throw snowballs at them.
  • Spiders can jump on you so ensure you're standing on a high block.
  • Ghasts can't blow up cobblestone.
  • Here's a quick way to kill lots of monsters quickly. Dig a 3x3x3 pit all around a cave. Next, build a fairly small house. About 4x4x4 on flat land, and make sure it has a door. Dig a quick 2-block deep hole around your house. Leave your house, making sure your door is open. Have the monsters spot you and run back to your house quickly. Jump inside, make sure the zombies see you, and close the door. When they try to jump over the pit, they fall in. If you want to go back outside, cover the hole and make it 3 squares deep.
  • A full hunger bar will restore health.
  • Skeletons are really intelligent, they know when to go undercover at day.
  • A Zombie will die by 4 hits with a stone sword.
  • If a creeper doesn't blow up, it will give you gunpowder.
  • Experience points can be used to enchant items in version 1.9.
  • If you die, you have 5 minutes until the items disappear.
  • Spiders don't attack at day, unless provoked.
  • Enemies do not spawn in peaceful mode.
  • Zombies and skeletons will burn in the sun, but will hide under trees to prevent being burned up.
  • Spiders can see through any block, so dont think you're too safe when hiding from one.
  • When attacked by blaze make sure that there are no more enemies around you then run around it like crazy to avoid it's fire balls. Then make a 10 to 15 block high tower then take your bow and let a rip.
  • In version 1.8, or the Adventure Update, you will not be able to restore your health with food.

Warnings

  • Never fight too many monsters in a cornered space.
