Draw a Cup of Coffee

Need a kick-start in the morning? Learn to draw your own cup of coffee with this simple tutorial.

Note: follow the red line for each step.

Steps

  1. Draw a vertical cylinder.
  2. Draw a vertical oval on one side of the cylinder.
  3. Draw the inside line of the handle.
  4. Draw a horizontal oval inside the top oval of the cylinder.
  5. Draw a line representing the coffee in the cup.
  6. Draw the steam rising from the freshly brewed coffee.
  7. Draw your finished lines over the under-drawing.
  8. Erase your under-drawing, and add color.
  9. Finished.

Tips

  • Use your pencil lightly when drawing, just in case you make a mistake.
  • Try using a felt tipped pen, or even an ink brush for your finished lines.
  • Try starting with a base color, then add shadows in a slightly darker version of the base color.
  • The color you choose is up to you.
  • Experimenting with different tools will help you improve your abilities.
