Recently, the number of Subway restaurants has surpassed the number of McDonald's restaurants. Due to this recent rise in popularity, newer employees are being hired every day who have no clue how to build Subway sandwiches. If you are a new employee at Subway, use this article to hide your lack of knowledge.

Steps

  1. Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds. It's Subway policy.
  2. Put on a pair of gloves.
  3. Grab a deli paper and place it on the cutting board.
  4. Politely ask the customer if they would like white, wheat, or one of the gourmet breads. If they can't decide, recommend the white bread.
  5. Ask which type of sub they would like. For the sake of this article, we'll assume they chose the Subway Club.
  6. Cut the bread across with the knife at a 45 degree angle. However, do not cut through the whole piece of bread; Leave a slight hinge. This allows the meats and vegetables to sit easily on the bread and close much easier.
  7. Place four pieces of turkey, two pieces of ham, and four pieces of roast beef on the top half of the bread. Make sure the turkey and ham are folded horizontally, and all of the meat is out of the hinge. This allows for a better close.
  8. Ask the customer which type of cheese they would like. Each Subway has different choices, but for the sake of this article, we'll say they chose the American cheese.
  9. Place four pieces of cheese across the meats. Make sure the tips of the American cheese are pointing in opposite directions as you place them along the sub.
  10. See if they want it toasted. It's Subway policy to ask if the customer would like their sub toasted, but let's say they chose not to toast their sub.
  11. Politely ask if the customer would like lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumber. Again, for the sake of this article, we'll say they only want lettuce and tomatoes. If the customer wants more of a vegetable, always give them more.
  12. Grab half of a handful of lettuce, depending on how big your hand is. Place it across the bottom half of the bread from end to end.
  13. Place 6 pieces of tomato (standard amount for most Subway restaurants) across the bottom half of the bread to reach each end.
  14. Ask the customer if they would like any sauces or seasoning. For the sake of this article we'll say they only want oil, salt, and pepper.
  15. Grab the bottle of oil dressing and lightly squeeze the bottle over the vegetables. Unless the customer specifies how much they want, quickly pass over them from end to end at least 3 times.
  16. Season the sandwich. Subway has a salt and pepper mix shaker as well as separate shakers for both seasonings. Pass over the vegetables at least 2-3 times, depending on how much the customer wants.
  17. Once the customer agrees that the sandwich is finished, close the top part of the bread over the vegetables, make sure everything is securely on the inside of the bread, and cut the sub down the middle to make two six inch subs.
  18. Place the full sub on the wrap paper next to the cutting board and wrap it.
  19. Finished.
