Having trouble finding slime or just tired of waiting for them to spawn on Minecraft 360? Read this article and I will tell you step by step on how to make a slime spawning farm!

Steps

  1. Get supplies. You will need pickaxes. It will go faster if you use stone, iron, gold, or diamond pickaxes. Also ladders so you can get back up! You will need about 15 pickaxes, 50 torches, and 40 ladders.
  2. Dig straight down, placing ladders on your way down. Watch for lava because it may be right underneath you!
  3. Once you hit bedrock, go up 3 blocks.
  4. Dig into the wall. The room you're about to create should be a 16x16 room, completely empty except for torches here and there. It should be 3 blocks high.
  5. CHECK. Check the room you made. It should be at least 3 blocks high and at least 16x16 (I recommend 16x16) and empty except for torches.
  6. Go to a wall, any wall. Go to the second block up from the floor and break that block. Then go two blocks over and break that block. You must go horizontally around the whole room, leaving two blocks in between every hole in the wall.
    • The wall will look like this after you're done: BBEBBEBBEBBEBBE (B= block still there, E=Empty)
  7. Place torches in the holes in the walls.
  8. CHECK. The room should be 16x16, 3 high, and have that wall pattern. It should be empty except for torches.
  9. Go to the roof. You will need to do what you did on the wall and break every other block, then place torches in them.
  10. Dig straight up about 3 blocks, you will need a duplicate of the room you just made, but 2-3 blocks above it. Repeat steps 1-10 in the room above the bottom room.
  11. CHECK. You will have two rooms that are identical, 16x16 rooms, 3 high, with the patterns on the walls and roof, with torches inside each hole in the wall/roof.
  12. Go back to the bottom room. You need to make this room 16 blocks wide and expand out to 26 blocks long.
  13. CHECK. You should have two rooms, a top one 16x16 and a bottom one 16x26. The top should have the patterns on the walls/roof, the bottom one's patterns can be expanded out to the 26th block, but isn't a need as torches just keep other mobs from spawning.
  14. You need to expand the top room to a 16x26 room as well, and you can expand the wall/roof pattern as well, though it is not needed.
  15. CHECK. You will have 2 rooms, 3 high, 16x26, and the patterns may/may not go all around the rooms. They should be pretty identical.
  16. Go to the bottom room. You need to dig a 3 block deep pit. If you hit bedrock, just go around it. You need to make it go along the back wall, so it should be 16 blocks long and 4 blocks wide.
  17. Get buckets full of water. I recommend 4 buckets if possible, then dig a 4 block hole in the ground and put the water in so you can keep refilling them and not have to run back up.
  18. Fill the pit with water. It may be hard to even out if there is uneven bedrock, but just keep experimenting with it and it should even out soon.
  19. Go to the top floor and break the blocks that are above the water pit below. This will create your water trap, because slimes cannot swim.
  20. Put a one block walkway on both sides of the water pit, both on the top and bottom rooms.
  21. Put a ladder on one of the walkways in the bottom room to the top room.
  22. CHECK. You should have two rooms. 16x26, 3 high. The bottom floor should have a water pit and walkways on both sides, with one having a ladder leading up to the top.
  23. You can just wait for slimes to spawn now. It could take as little as minutes or as long as hours.
  24. If one spawns, bring it towards the water pit and lead it into it. As slimes cannot swim, this will kill it.
  25. They should keep spawning after that! Remember that it may take a while!

Tips

  • Keep your eyes peeled. You may find redstone, gold, iron, diamonds, etc. as you are far underground.
  • Make ladders. It will make it very easy to get up and down.
  • Be patient! It should pay off at the end! (I made a farm with these steps and have found slimes after about 30 minutes!)
  • Keep lights around. Slime will still spawn, and this will prevent unwanted mods from spawning.
  • Slimes only spawn in swamp biomes in PC edition until further updates in console edition and pocket edition.
  • Slimes only spawn in swamps and slime chunks. If you have built in a slime chunk and lit nearby spawn areas it should not take more than a few minutes to get slimes.
  • Finding slime chunks is relatively easy if you build small rooms occasionally as you mine. Since 10% of all chunks are slime chunks, sooner or later you will start finding slimes in your mine. Narrow down their spawn chunk, and build your farm there. Building elsewhere is a waste of time and effort.
  • Like other mobs, slimes won't spawn on transparent blocks. This includes blocks with torches in them and glowstone, but does not include jack o' lanterns, which means you can light your spawning rooms with jack o' lanterns embedded in the floor.
  • Slimes will spawn up to level 40 within a slime chunk. For a small farm, this means you don't have to dig down to bedrock, and can easily create your farm without hitting the lava heavy bottom layers.
  • For a truly epic slime farm, build 16x16 free floating platforms with a 3 block wide border removed all around and 3 blocks of vertical space between platforms. 7+ platforms can produce a near constant stream of slimes, even while you stand in the bottom layers.
  • Take precautions to prevent slime spawns in your layers dedicated to kill/collection or you may get a slimy surprise on entering your farm (or worse, while AFKing inside)

Warnings

  • You may encounter other mobs. Bring a sword to defend yourself.
