Do you have wavy hair, and are dying for straight? Don't want to damage your hair in the process? Well, this article is great for you!

Steps

  1. Take a shower using straightening shampoo & conditioner. Any straightening shampoo or conditioner will work, you can try "Herbal Essences Dangerously Straight". Another type that could work is a heavy shampoo and conditioner (i.e. the opposite of no residue shampoo and conditioner etc.). This will not only protect hair leaving it soft smooth and shiny, it will also weigh hair down and discourage it from kinking and curling.
  2. Dry hair in a towel. DO NOT RUB. Squeeze most of the water out and then pat dry with a towel, flattening it and also preventing the frizzies.
  3. Wrap hair in a towel. Leave your hair in the towel, just so it's not dripping wet.
  4. Put in a leave-in conditioner whether it's spray or liquid, anything will do.
  5. Part your hair, any way you would like.
  6. Using your fingers as a "flat iron" straighten the hair the WHOLE time it is drying. It is very important you repeat this step over & over until your whole head COMPLETELY dries. Firstly comb through hair with either a wide toothed comb or your fingers. Don't brush as this will damage your hair!Keep combing until all your hair is flat, unknotted and not wavy. Then, pretending your pointer and middle finger are scissors, put a piece of hair in the middle of those two fingers. Pull the hand down along the hair "straightening it" repeat to every piece of hair until it dries.
  7. If you are pushed for time, blow dry gently on a COOL setting to just speed up the drying. During this, you could use a straightening brush for a smoother look, or a barrel brush. Once your hair is completely dry, brush through to remove knots and tangles for a straighter finish.
  8. Style as desired.

Tips

  • You may not have your whole head COMPLETELY straight, that is nearly impossible without a flat iron. You may have one or two waves, but that's ok.
  • Take your time with these steps.
  • If your hair is thin, use a body boost or thickening product with the leave in conditioner.

Warnings

  • Don't use too much of a product, it will ruin your hair and make it oily.
  • If you forget to finish flat ironing the hair, even if only one or two pieces are still wet, it will end up getting wavy again.

Things You'll Need
