Although there are many more ways to tie combat boots, this is one of the simplest and aesthetically pleasing methods. Follow the steps below to learn how to tie your boots in a quick and efficient manner.

Steps

  1. Make sure your boots are loose enough to fit your foot in. Don't make them too loose, however, or else they'll make walking difficult (since you'll be trying the whole time to keep them on your feet). If you need to, replace them so that they fit to your satisfaction, then insert your foot.
  2. Pull laces tight and wrap around the cuff 3 or 4 times. The more you wrap the laces around the cuff, the more secure your boot will be, but this can detract from the stylistic element of the boots. So if you're wearing them as a fashion statement, try to minimize the wrapping. If your laces are short enough, it is possible to tie the knot then and there in any way you choose. If the laces are longer or if you prefer to wrap, continue.
  1. Bring the laces through the final speed lace eyelets. Then tie them as if you were going to tie your shoe, which you do by putting one lace over and around the other, then pulling tight.
  2. Do this again the opposite way, to form a square knot. Finally, tuck the excess lace into the cuff of your boot and voila, you've tied a boot!
  3. Repeat steps 1-5 to do the other boot. You could also tie that one using another technique, but most of us prefer our boots to be symmetrical.

Tips

  • Your boots should not be too tight or too loose, as either of these will cause you discomfort.
  • You want to make sure that you boots are not laced up all the way, so that you can leave the top speed lace eyelets open.
