The AVI video format is more widely compatible with devices and editing software than MP4. You can use MP4 Converter, which is downloadable from the Internet, to convert your MP4 file to an AVI format. For shorter videos — less than one minute — you can use the free version of the software; you'll have to purchase a full version of MP4 Converter to process longer videos.

Tips

  • While MP4 Converter claims to remove Digital Rights Management (DRM) protection from the files it converts, doing so may violate copyright laws. Make sure that you own the rights to whatever you're converting or that you are making a copy of something you've purchased for a personal backup.
  • Copy any converted video directly to your mobile device by clicking on the orange "Copy to iPod" button in right-center at the top of your screen.
  • MP4 Converter offers a money-back guarantee and claims that all its software is free from viruses and malware.
