Are you trying to cut back on your landfill contributions? Would you like to impress your friends at lunchtime? Converting a milk jug into a lunchbox will help you do both. These instructions will teach you how to create your very own milk jug lunchbox.

Steps

  1. Clean out the milk jug with soap and warm water. Rinse the jug a second time using a small amount of bleach based solution. This will help eliminate the old milk smell.
  2. Use the black marker to mark the milk jug as shown.
  3. Cut along the black lines with scissors.
  4. When you have finished cutting, dispose of the upper portion of the milk jug in a recycling bin. The remaining part should look similar to the photo.
  5. Create the flaps. First, pull the flaps outward and create a crease with your fingers about an inch and a half (2cm) from the bottom of the container. Next, fold the flap inward and crease again on the same line.
  6. Fill the lunchbox with your favorite food. In this example, we are using two slices of pizza.
  7. Tie a string around the lunchbox to secure the lid. Consider incorporating a bow for added effect.
  8. Enjoy your new lunchbox. Be sure to brag to your friends about how environmentally responsible you have become. Optionally, you can decorate the lunchbox with glitter, pictures, and whatever else you want.
