One feature offered by Comcast Digital Television is the ability to access Comcast On Demand online. Subscribers can access television shows, movies, even sports and news shows available online using a laptop from any location so they no longer have to worry about missing a favorite show or returning a rented movie. The steps to access Comcast on Demand Online are relatively simple.

Steps

  1. Subscribe to Comcast Digital Television and High Speed Internet.
    • If you are not a subscriber to both Comcast services, you will not be able to watch shows or movies online. You should contact Comcast for more information on the availability of digital cable and high speed Internet.
  2. Turn on your computer.
  3. Access the Internet using a web browser to access your home page.
    • The Comcast home page may open automatically as a subscriber. If it does, you will see Xfinity.com in large red letters at the top left of the screen. If you do not see the Xfinity.com logo, you will need to go to the Comcast home page by following the next step. If you do see the Xfinity.com logo, skip the next two steps.
  4. Click in the box at the top of the screen that has the letters [http:// http://] in it. The webpage address you are on will highlight in blue.
  5. Type www.comcast.net.
    • This will take you to the Comcast Home Page.
  6. Find the Xfinity.tv box located just below the Xfinity.com logo.
  7. Click the blue words reading TV & Movies Online.
    • The Xfinity.tv page appears.
  8. Click TV Series if you wish to watch a television show.
  9. Click Movies if you wish to watch a movie.
    • You can filter your choices by using the menus on the left side of the screen. Television shows can be filtered by genre, collection, network or the day of the week they normally air, while movies can be filtered by release date as well. Both television shows and movies can be searched by using the alphabetical menu or entering the name of the title in the search box which unfortunately is not available any more.
  10. Click the box with the picture of the television show or movie you want to watch.
    • If you chose television shows, a new window opens allowing you to scroll through the episodes available to choose the one you want to watch. Choose the correct episode by clicking on the title.
    • If you choose a television show or movie that requires a subscription, you will be prompted to sign into your Comcast online account in order to confirm that you subscribe to the service. If it is not one that requires a subscription (such as HBO) you will not be prompted to log in.
  11. Click the green Play button and enjoy your show.

Tips

  • In addition to watching television shows and movies, Comcast on Demand Online allows you to check TV and On Demand listings. You can visit the online store which allows you to buy or rent movies that you can watch on your computer at your leisure. MyTV allows you to control your television from your computer no matter where you are, like setting up DVR recordings or watching shows you have already recorded.

Warnings

  • In order to access Comcast on Demand Online, a program must be downloaded to watch the shows. This program will not harm computers and is necessary to use the system.
  • Some movies require you to subscribe to special services like Showtime or HBO. The Filter option for both TV shows and Movies allows you to only show selections that do not require a subscription so that you will not accidentally choose a subscriber show.
  • The MyTV option is not available in all areas. To find out if it is available in yours, click on MyTV in the menu. It will ask you for your zip code. Once you enter the zip code, Comcast on Demand Online will let you know if the service is available in your area.
