Making popcorn over a campfire will make a healthful and tasty snack while out on the trail. Be sure to use appropriate safety precautions and campground rules when laying a fire.

Ingredients

Steps

  1. Build your campfire in clear area away from trees and buildings. Allow the fire to burn until hot embers form.
  2. Cut foil into 18 to 20-inches long pieces.
  3. Add a handful of popcorn on top of each piece of foil.
  4. Add a teaspoon of vegetable oil to each piece of foil.
  5. Fold the foil in half and then twist the sides to seal.
  6. Attach the foil pouch to a long stick.
  7. Place the pouches over or slightly above the coals of your campfire.
  8. Listen and wait for the popcorn kernels to start popping.
  9. Remove the Make Grilled Mushrooms in Foil Packets once you do not hear any more popping inside the foil packets.
    • Be careful when opening the pouch as it will be very hot and steamy inside.
  10. Season the popcorn with butter and salt. Sugar is optional.
