Many boys and girls want to become a punk, punk-rocker, etc. Sometimes it's hard-- especially when you don't have enough money to buy new things and change your attire to punk. In reality, you shouldn't have to buy new clothes at all. All you need to work with is already in your closet, or buy some old clothes from a thrift store...

Steps

  1. Look at designs you may want to integrate into your wardrobe. Some punk inspired clothes can be found in most Hot Topic stores, but make sure you don't go too crazy copying it, as you may be regarded as a mall goth. goth or cyber goth look. If you can, don't even buy from mall stores, and buy fabric at an indie fabric store.
  2. You can add zippers, chains, D rings, straps, bum flaps, studs, or anything else to a pair of clothes to make them punk.
  3. Experiment with color. When the punk movement was started, the most important thing was to shock others with hairstyles and clothes. To try and shock people try adding bright colors to your clothes, such as painting one pant leg green, adding band patches to a pair of pants, or writing on your clothes with marker.
  4. Use screen printing, iron-ons, patches, buttons, safety pins, markers, and paint to create a shirt matching your personality. Transforming T's into band shirts is a good idea. Shirts with obscure pics that cover the shirt are smiled upon.
  5. Take simpler items of clothing such as a pair of jeans and add your own style to make them truly unique.
  6. A large part of the early punk scene was slogans and the pullock look. for slogans take song lyrics or something you care about, and write it on the back or front of a plain shirt, usually bought at a thrift store. For the pullock look, get a thrift store shirt, set it on the ground and splatter it with paint.
  7. Use your imagination. Girls can use shoe laces (any color) and turn them into chokers.
  8. If your clothes fall apart, duct tape or safety pin them back together.
  9. Finished.
