Are you a rockstar? You'll be needing a cool pair of jeans. Rockstar jeans usually have rips, bleach spots, paint, and other embellishments to help them stand out from the crowd. Even if you aren't a rockstar, wearing these jeans is going to make you feel like one!

Steps

  1. Choose a pair of jeans, by color or style, that you would like to redesign.
  2. Paint with staining liquids outdoors. Add glitter before everything dries.
    • Flick bleach onto the fabric with an old toothbrush.
    • Splatter paint with a child's paintbrush.
    • Try slightly diluted dye or kool-aid.
    • Use sponges or stencils. Try henna stencils.
  3. Attach beads or sequins with a thread and needle. Attach rhinestones with fabric glue. Attach brass tacks randomly. Turn the jeans inside out when they're laundered.
  4. Add patches.
    • Attach scrap fabric with a needle and thread. Try bandanna fabric. Make a few pockets.
    • Buy iron-on patches at the craft store.
    • Add a piece of ribbon-embroidered lace.
    • Attach a paisley cut from a piece of fabric.
    • Embroider a heart. Remove the fabric from the center of the heart. Replace the center with a cool piece of fabric.
  5. Use fabric markers in various colors. Add lyrics or the name of your band. Add artsy Make Your Jeans Look Awesome and details.
  6. Fray the knees or pockets with a cheese grater. Rip a few holes in the fabric. Fabric will fray with each washing.

Tips

  • If you are going to make a hole, use an old block of wood and place it inside the jeans, so the hole will not go to the back.
  • Rinse your jeans, within three minutes of applying bleach, to stop the bleaching process.
  • Glitter will be removed each time you wash your jeans.
  • Buy a Bedazzler online or in stores.

Warnings

  • Never mix bleach with ammonia or vinegar. These create a potentially lethal gas.
  • Use caution with liquid bleach or other chemicals.
