Adobe Photoshop is an extremely popular graphics editing program published and developed since 1987 by Adobe Systems. The safest place to get a download of Photoshop is from Adobe.com, but if you want to get the latest version of Photoshop for free, it is not possible from Adobe other than with a trial version.

Steps

Obtaining a trial version of Photoshop

  1. Access the Adobe website at photoshop.com/products.
  2. Click the “Try” button.
  3. Click “Download trial. This will give you 30 days of a free trial of their latest products. There is also an alternative to Photoshop available on this page called Photoshop Elements, which gives you most of the features of the full program, but at a discounted price.

Downloading Photoshop CS2

  1. Sign up for an Adobe account at adobe.com/account/sign-in.adobedotcom.html.
  2. Enter your name, country of residence, email address and a password. Then accept the Terms of Use,” click “Create” and continue to the new profile.
  3. Download the CS2 Photoshop software, using the following links.
    • For Windows users, click the PhSp_CS2_English.exe link.
    • For Mac users, click the PhSp_CS2_English.dmg.bin link.
  4. Choose “Save” in an appropriate destination on your computer, probably on your desktop.
  5. Install the program by opening the installation file once it has competed downloading. Choose the location on your computer for the folders. After accepting the agreement, enter the serial number and your username.
    • Serial number for Windows is 1045-1412-5685-1654-6343-1431
    • Serial number for Mac OSX is 1045-0410-5403-3188-5429-0639
  6. Click “Finish.

Tips

  • An alternative to Photoshop is GIMP, which is a powerful free and open source image editor that has many of the same tools and capabilities of Photoshop.
  • If you are using Windows 7, you may have to check “compatibility mode” for a fully functional Photoshop CS2 program.

Warnings

  • There are many non-Adobe websites where you can download Adobe Photoshop. Be aware that the downloads from these sites can have viruses and malware included with the download.
  • If you have a Mac, be aware that you will need to be using an older machine running OS X 10.4 to 10.6 in order to use Photoshop CS2.
