Have you ever wanted a jacket that no one else had, or something to show off to your friends? For those or any other reasons, this jacket is the perfect thing to go with all your other duct tape creations.

Steps

  1. Find an old shirt that you don't want, then put it on.
  2. Have someone start wrapping duct tape around you, from the waist up.
  3. When the duct tape is wrapped all the way to your arms, cut it off,and then start ripping strips about that are equal to the width from one armpit to the other, and take about {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} off the measurement.
  4. Place the strip on your chest, so that it over laps the last piece.
  5. Repeat 3 and 4 until it reaches the end of your shirt.
  6. Repeat 3-5 for the back.
  7. For the sleeves, duct tape over them by overlapping the strips of tape on the sleeve.
  8. Have someone cut a straight line up the back of the jacket, and wiggle out of it.
  9. Cover any part of the shirt that you might see.
  10. When you get out, duct tape the jacket back together, then cut it opposite of the first cut.
  11. Cut it to the size you want, then cover all the edges where you cut.
  12. ADDITIONAL: If you want your duct tape jacket to have a zipper, it is very easy to do and pretty cheap. Go to a sewing or craft store and buy enough zipper to go all the way down the length of your jacket with about 3" leftover.
  13. Cut the duct tape to the length of your jacket, down the front.
  14. Zip the zipper open and tape each side to one side of the opening in the front.
  15. Be careful not to tape over any of the functioning parts.

Tips

  • Personalize this jacket! Use markers and other colors of tape to personalize this jacket.
  • Add pockets by using a method similar to when you're making a duct tape wallet.
  • Use black tape to make it look like leather.
  • Wear this jacket with some other duct tape items.

Warnings

  • This jacket gets hot fast: do the sensible thing when you get hot and take it off.
  • Don't get cut by the scissors.

Things You'll Need
