Although Sims 3 has endless possibilities, after a while the general game play of making a Sim, ranking them up in their career, having children, repeating the cycle can get boring. This article contains some fun fan-made in game challenges for you to try if you have the Sims 3 base game for PC.

Steps

Generation legacy

  1. Make a generation legacy. Although this may seem similar to the general aim of the game, it can become quite difficult. The aim is to successfully move down your Sim's family tree 10 times. Start off with a couple, make them have a child. That child grows up gets married and has a child. This process is repeated 10 times. No cheating is allowed either.

Creating interesting Sims

  1. Mess with traits. Make a Sim with "hates the outdoors" trait and force them to stay outside. Make a couple who have conflicting traits (example Sim 1 has the "slob, couch potato, hates the outdoors, unflirty and heavy sleeper" traits and Sim 2 has the "neat, athletic, loves the outdoors, flirty and light sleeper" traits. Move them in together in a small house, see how long they last.
  2. Hate everyone. Make a Sim who has traits such as evil and hotheaded. Make them visit public places such as the park and make them argue with everyone. Try to make them enemies with as many people as possible.
  3. Have a secret lover. Make a Sim with traits such as flirty and good kisser. Try to make them have a romantic relationship with every possible male/female Sim within the town. See how long it takes before they get caught out.
  4. Make best friends. Make a Sim with traits like good and friendly. Try to make them be best friends with everyone in the town.
  5. Make devils. Devils have red skin, which you can change by clicking the circle near the skin tone meter and experimenting with different tones of red! It is easier to make a male devil as they have a choice of spiky hair.
  6. Make zombies. Look around the graveyard for people who have died and make an evil and green skinned Sim! Give them the same name as any dead Sim of your choice, and you can even make a family of zombies!
  7. Make Grim Reapers. Get black skinned Sims and give them black clothes for everyday, formal, sleepwear, athletic and swimwear.
  8. Monsters from Greek Mythology. This can be really fun! If you're making Medusa and the Gorgons, don't forget to place lots of Medusa Victim sculptures in their house.
  9. If you like Minecraft, try Minecraft characters. Steve is simple, just give him a cyan shirt, blue trousers, grey shoes, purple eyes and brown hair for all outfits.
  10. Create werewolves. Give them the Neurotic trait as freaking out will look perfect when howling at the moon or meeting normal human Sims.
  11. Final tip: It's best if you give any of these Sims the Evil trait (unless it's Steve or another passive mob from Minecraft) because most of these Sim ideas are evil ones. Have fun with your new Sims!
  12. Make a ghost of every colour. Find as many different ways to kill your Sims thus making a multi-coloured graveyard in your garden. Try your best not to cheat with this one, although it can be quite hard to kill Sims in this game.

Making unusual families

  1. Make a homeless family. Make a family of Sims, all with the kleptomaniac and mooch traits. Make them look scruffy (make them barefoot for example). Move the family into an empty lot. Make them sleep on park benches or at a neighbour's house. When they visit people's houses make them use their showers and eat their food.
  2. Make a dysfunctional family. Make a huge family and make their children fight with each other and make their parents lazy. See if they can successfully raise their kids.
  3. Ruin lives. Play as one of the pre-made families that are already living in Sunset Valley. Pick one of the richer families who have good jobs and a nice house. Make them get fired from their job and take away all of their money. Watch them suffer as their belongings get taken away.
  4. Create a supersize vs super skinny couple. Make a supersize sim and make them marry a super-skinny sim. You could give the supersize Sim traits such as heavy sleeper and couch potato, give the superskinny sim the opposite. You could even mix it up and make the superskinny sim the lazy couch potato and the supersize sim athletic.
  5. Create one adult, seven toddlers. This is extremely challenging, but make 1 parent with traits such as family orientated and good (this will make the challenge easier). Make 7 toddlers within the household. See if the adult can look after and raise all 7 toddlers without any been taken away by the social worker.

Owning more

  1. Own Sunset Valley. If your sim earns a lot of money then they can purchase properties within the game. See if you can earn enough money to buy every single community lot within Sunset Valley. Try renaming them all too!

Changing the settings

  1. Make the game extra long. Change the game settings so that your Sim has the longest life. Make a couple have a baby and play as that baby. Your Sim can only age up at the end of each life stage - so no throwing a birthday party 3 days into their childhood! See if you can play as your Sim from birth to death using the longest life setting.
  2. Change the game settings so that your Sim has the shortest life. Make a couple have a baby as play as that baby. Your Sim can only age up at the end of each life stage, don't cheat and turn off aging! See if you can play as your Sim from birth to death using the shortest life setting. See if you can marry them and get job level 10 and see how fast you can do so, even though its hard.

Challenges

  1. Challenge accepted. This one is simple, complete every single challenge or opportunity that pops up for your Sim!
  2. Complete your Sim's lifetime wish without cheating!
  3. Complete every single lifetime wish within the game without cheating! (Although you may have to turn off aging for this one).
  4. Know it all. Make your Sims max out every skill there is within the game! Learn every skill and try to complete the challenges that come with it, your Sim will literally know it all!

Other fun

  1. Make a story. Create some unique Sims and turn their life into a dramatic story with love affairs, deaths and parties!
  2. Make a video. The Sims 3 allows players to record gameplay, so why not make your own video? Create a music video to your favourite song or make yourself star in your very own movie! You could upload it to the Sims 3 website when you're finished to see what other simmers think of your creation. You could also make a drama, comedy, love film and more!

Tips

  • If you really are getting bored of the base game and you can't think of anything else left that you could possibly do then buy some expansion/stuff packs.
  • Make one adult and 7 kids or teens. Make a school uniform for each of them and make a boarding school. Make the adult a teacher and have fun!
