This is a delicious tart that can be enjoyed anywhere. It is a Bedfordshire dish and is readily available in bakeries in the area but the purchased ones are not as good as the one you'll make from this recipe.

Ingredients

  • 70g margarine
  • 150g sugar
  • 20g instant hot chocolate powder
  • 20g cocoa powder
  • 230g dried milk powder
  • Ready made pastry case
  • 150ml warm water

Steps

  1. Cream together 70g margarine and 150g sugar until smooth. (I use caster sugar as the granules are smaller)
  2. Add 20g hot chocolate powder (the instant kind) and 20g cocoa powder to the margarine/sugar mix and cream together well.
  3. Mix 230g dried milk powder and {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} warm water together in a separate bowl until smooth.
  4. Blend both mixes together very well until smooth and thick.
  5. Pour into a ready made pastry case and put in the refrigerator until set.
  6. Finished.

Tips

  • Check if the tart is set by touching it gently it should be quite firm and not stick to your finger.
  • Try eating with a good squirt of aerosol cream, the tart is quite gluey so the cream cuts it nicely.

Warnings

  • If the milk powder is not dissolved properly it leaves lumps in the tart which, although they don't spoil the taste, ruin the texture.

Things You'll Need

  • Ready made pastry case
  • Refrigerator
